Medication in day care

Responsibility : Ministère de la Famille et des Aînés

Day-care services

No medication may be administered to your child in day care without written authorization from you and from a member of the Collège des médecins du Québec. The information on the pharmacist prescription label medication is proof of the physician's authorization.

Exceptions

Without medical authorization, acetaminophen (Tempra, Atasol, Tylenol or similar house brands) may be given to your child, and insect repellent applied, provided the procedures in force are followed.

Medical authorization is not required to administer saline nasal drops or oral hydration solutions (Pedialyte, Gastrolyte, Lytren, etc.) to your child, or to apply zinc diaper cream, sunscreen or calamine lotion. However, you must provide written authorization.
