When biological parents voluntarily consent to the adoption of their child, usually at the child’s birth, the adoption in question is considered a regular adoption by the youth centre.
To begin the process for a regular adoption, you must register with the youth centre in your area.
Before accepting your application as a prospective adopter, the youth centre will ask you to undergo a psychological assessment.

Regular adoption is very rare in Québec and involves a waiting period of several years for the adoptive parents.
