As an employee, you may be absent from work for five days on the birth or adoption of a child, or on termination of a pregnancy in or after the 20th week.
As of January 1, 2006, you are also entitled to spousal leave if you adopt a child of your spouse.
The first two days of absence are paid if you have been working for the same employer for at least 60 days.
The leave can be broken down into days at your request. It must be taken in the two week period following your child's arrival in your home or following the termination of pregnancy, as the case may be.
