Québec parents have at their disposal a network of educational day-care services with more than 200 000 reduced-rate places ($7 per day) in child-care centres, day-care centres and home child-care operations.
The day-care services are open to children from birth until they attend preschool.
If you do not have access to reduced-rate services, note that, with the significant increase in the refundable tax credit for child-care expenses, the net daily cost of unsubsidized private child-care services ($25) is now comparable to that of subsidized child-care services at the reduced rate ($7). This applies in the case of families with a family income of up to about $125 000.
