If you are pregnant and receive last-resort financial assistance (welfare), you may obtain a special pregnancy benefit in addition to your monthly benefit.
To obtain the benefit
As early as possible in your pregnancy, you must provide your local employment centre officer with a written attestation of pregnancy signed by your doctor or a midwife. The number of weeks of pregnancy and your anticipated date of delivery must be indicated.
